Custom Ceremonies

Custom Ceremonies

Honor all of life's cycles with ceremony, ritual and connection.

Life, each of our lives and Life in general, is a series of cycles and revolutions and significant events.  The year, our life year, the cycles of the moon, the seasons, the occasion of puberty and becoming men and women, establishing relationships, and significant life events are all experiences for which we have traditionally paused and consciously honored in some way, particularly before the industrial revolution suppressed our ability and intentions to afford the time for such reflections and activities.

The medieval calendar was filled with holidays.  Historians tell us that in addition to official celebrations, there were often weeks' worth of ales -- to mark important life events (such as bride ales or wake ales, or lamb ales) as well as less momentous occasions. (Ale is an old Anglo-Saxon word meaning celebration or feasting). All told, holiday leisure time in medieval England took up probably about one-third of the year.   The ancien règime in France is reported to have guaranteed fifty-two Sundays, ninety rest days, and thirty-eight holidays.

Donna Henes has said the need for ritual, to celebrate with intention, is a basic human instinct.

“A compelling urge to merge with the infinite, ritual reminds us of a larger, archetypal reality and invokes in us a visceral understanding of such universal paradigms as unity, continuity, connectivity, reverence and awe.”

We recognize this and offer to support you in facilitating, designing (with you) and celebrating any ritual for life moments, be it Solstice or Equinox, New Moon or Full Moon, Marriage, Planting or Harvest celebrations, graduations, new house, new career or other event you want to honor.
